At 132 Harley Street we now offer the cervical cancer vaccine to females from age 16. The cervical cancer vaccine is intended to protect against diseases caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) types 6, 11, 16, and 18. These HPV diseases include cervical cancer, pre-cancerous lesions of the female genitals (including cervix, and vulva), and genital warts. HPV types 16 and 18 are responsible for 70% of cervical cancer cases, and
HPV types 6, 11, for approximately 90% of genital wart cases. The drug choice we use at 132 Harley Street for the cervical cancer vaccine is Gardasil. It produces type-specific antibodies and have in clinical trials been shown to prevent these 4 types of HPV (6, 11, 16 and 18) related diseases in adult women 16-26 years of age. The vaccine also produces antibodies in 9 to 15 year old children and adolescents. However here at 132 Harley Street, we only give the cervical cancer vaccine to females aged 16 and older.
