Homeopathy is a system of medicine which has been practised for over 200 years and is based on the principle of 'like cures like.' This means that a very small dose of a substance which can cause symptoms is used to cure those particular symptoms, whether they are physical, emotional or a combination of the two. Because of the very dilute nature of the remedies there are virtually no side effects. Like all Complementary Therapies it takes a holistic view of problems and aims to stimulate the bodies own healing capacities.
It is particularly suitable for gynaecological problems and can be a useful alternative when conventional treatments have not been helpful, have caused side effects or are contra-indicated. It can also be the treatment of choice for those who do not wish to take too much medication. Homeopathy can be safely combined with conventional medicine and the remedies do not interfere with the action of other tablets.
As well as helping in a wide range of gynaecological conditions it can also be useful during pregnancy, delivery and post-natally for both mother and baby and consultations are offered during pregnancy to discuss overall health, any health current problems and the use of homeopathy during delivery. It can also be helpful to have a consultation before operations to discuss remedies that can help both with healing and any anxieties to do with the procedure itself.
